Bic Mark It Permanent Markers a good alternative to Copics

Ok, before I post the tutorial (later tonight) I thought it might be fun to have a little guessing game. Are you ready? Ok, here goes : )

One of these images was colored with Copics, one was with Bic Mark It Permanent Markers. Can you tell which one is which?

And how about in this picture, which one(s) are the Copics, which one(s) are the Bic?

Take your time, I am going to go do the tutorial on how to use the Bic Markers to get results that are very close to the Copics, will post that in a little bit (oh, and when I asked my husband which one of the images looked like it was done with a more expensive marker, he couldn't tell)

Post your guess in the comments section ; ) Oh, if you click on the pictures you will go to the online album and get a larger image.

  1. Ok, I'll take a guess. I think the one on the right (in the top picture) is the copics. They are both very beautifully colored. Looking forward to hearing the results.

  3. Thanks for Guessing! I will not reveal if you are correct or not until tomorrow : )

Needless to say, the bic markers were surprisingly easy to use to get copic like results....and that is exciting because they are soooooooooo much cheaper!

  6. Well, I always did like to be contrary - the glass is neither half full or half empty - the glass is twice as big as it needs to be. I think the picture on the left is done with copics. Why? because the blending appears to be more graduated than the picture on the right.

  8. And the Answer isssssss.......

The one on the right : )

Almost half the people I showed those cards to could not pick out the better marker.

The point of the comparison is that the effect you get from using the Bics or Sharpies is very close to the copics, and it is basically the same technique.

    Thanks for playing along ladies.

  11. What is an embossing liquid? Thank you for the great information.

  12. Embossing fluid is a liquid that you can buy to use instead of an embossing ink pad, usually the fluid comes in a bottle that has a dauber top and you just daub the liquid onto your stamp, them stamp ink onto if you want, then emboss. The fluid helps to keep the water based inks hold onto the embossing powder better.
